When ordering custom-size tatami mats for a room, the first step is to measure the inside dimensions of the room.
For example, if the room is designed for six tatami mats, please measure the full room size, such as:
2,640 mm × 3,640 mm
approx. 104 inches × 143.3 inches

Please also let us know the thickness you would like for the tatami mats.
Custom thickness is available from 15 mm to 55 mm.
Even if a room looks straight and square, most rooms have slight unevenness because buildings are made by hand and may change slightly over time.
For this reason, please measure each side of the room in about three places and tell us the shortest measurement.
This helps prevent the tatami mats from being made too large.
If the mats are slightly larger than the room, they may not fit.
On the other hand, if the mats are slightly smaller, for example by about 5 mm, the gap will be divided between both sides of the room. This means the visible gap on each side will be about 2.5 mm, which is usually not very noticeable.

For example:
- If side A measures 2,640 mm at both ends and 2,638 mm in the center, please use 2,638 mm.
- If side B measures 3,640 mm at the top and center, but 3,637 mm at the bottom, please use 3,637 mm.
In this case, please tell us the room size as:
2,638 mm × 3,637 mm
After you know the room dimensions, please contact us using the inquiry form.
We will calculate the recommended tatami mat size, the number of mats needed, and the estimated price.
We usually reply with an estimate within 1 business day.
For rooms using multiple tatami mats, we will also prepare a layout plan so that you can see how the mats will be arranged.
The tatami mats will be delivered with an illustrated guide to help you install them in the correct position.
