Precautions when sleeping with a futon on the tatami mat

Summer in Japan is steaming hot—high temperature and humidity.

In the season when humidity is extremely high, mold growth can occur on tatami if you do not make it a habit to clean it often or if futon is not put away after each time it is used.

That kind of problem does not occur if you air out your room at a right interval and fold the futon every day.

TOKYO and ZEN tatami series, both of them use a material other than igusa and do not have any nutritional material for growing mold or mites. Not only that, but the material used for them is more durable than igusa.
Regrettably, it does not offer the scent of igusa which you expect.

Igusa starts out green, but over the years it changes into honey-color affected by sun. Both TOKYO and ZEN series do not change colors, and with them, you can choose the color that fits the color of your interior.
