I was wondering how do the square igusa mats connect together. Will they stay in place?
If I’m using a futon on top for sleeping is the square igusa mats (1.5cm thick) or the classic (3cm thick) mats recommended?
Tatami mats are not connected with each other when just laid on the floor.
Tatami has an anti-slip gripper on their back, which works against
moving apart provided that they are laid on a smooth wooden floor.
When you use a futon on top of tatami for sleeping, both IGUSA and
Classic types are fit for use.
The thicker tatatmi is, the higher the thermal and sound insulation
levels become.
The comfortable feeling in sleeping and sitting remains the same in
different thicknesses.
