Q1. Before ordering tatami mats from our company, what kinds of concerns or troubles did you have? What was your desired solution to them?

 

Concerned that the odor of the igusa would be too strong but ordering a sample helped give us a sense of the tatami would smell. Was also very interested in purchasing tatami mats directly from Japan. The support at Tokyo Tatami Maker was very expedient in responding to concerns and questions.

No, wanted to know the differences and benefits between natural igusa and the synthetic alternatives.

Q4. What points (which characteristics) were the deciding factors which led to your order?

 

Product is produced in Japan and of very high quality, the weave of the tatami is very tight and uniform. Like the natural smell of the igusa. Good and clear communication from company support.

Q5. After actually using our tatami mats, what are your thoughts and feelings on them? Please provide your honest impressions.

 

Really like the feel, look and smell of the mats. The smell of the igusa might be too strong for some customers but personally, I like it and find it very soothing. I was expecting the mats to be a little less firm with a bit more give but I am slowly getting use it. I was a little disappointed that the edging of the mats were not made of cloth but instead uses a synthetic material. I understand it was done because of durability reasons but I think that this should be made clear to potential customers.
