The roim currently has carpeting. I would like to remove this. Can I put the mats directly on the main floor (not wood) or should there be laminate or wood before the tatami mats are laid on the floor?

The tatami mats can be laid and used directly on top of the floor.
The backing of the tatami mats feature a non-woven and non-slip material.
This stops the mats from scratching the floor, and gives them a firm non-slip grip.
