By laying the tatami mats in different mesh directions, the light reflecting from these mats will differ, creating an illusion of having two different colors.

This method of tatami laying is common for Japanese-style rooms. Such laying style is called a checkered-pattern laying style.

I am very pleased with the tatami mats. Finally here are a few pictures of my finished room.

The tatami mats manufactured by our company are specially produced such that the back of these mats is slip resistance. Therefore, these mats can be laid directly and easily on floors such as a wooden floor.

Since the back of these mats is manufactured using non-woven fabric materials, our company’s tatami mats will leave little to no damage to your floors while maintaining high slip resistance.

However, please kindly understand that our company does not manufacture and handle frames for tatami mats.

TOKYO series come in different colors.

Laying out tatamis of the same color in different directions alternatively offers staggered reflections in sunlight that make it look like you have two diffrent tone tatamis laid out—deep and light color tatamis. This type of layout is called “Ichimatsu-shiki (checkered floor).”

With TOKYO series series, you can mix and match different colors.
Mixing black tatami with white one, or pink with beige, for example, you can choose different types of a mixture that fits the color of your interior.
