Choose the Tatami for Your Circumstances
Characteristics of Natural Igusa
Humidity Control
An advantage to natural Igusa is its ability to control humidity, absorbing and emitting moisture.
When a room gets humid it absorbs the moisture, and when a room is dry it emits it.
Requires Some Care
If it’s continuously too humid or remains unexposed to sunlight, mould can form.
As long as you clean it regularly and keep it ventilated, that sort of thing shouldn’t happen. We believe you do not need to worry that much about it.
The Fragrance of Soft Rush
Studies have found that the smell of soft rush (Igusa) can both induce calmness and increase concentration.
Characteristics of Advanced Materials
Choose Colours to Match Your Décor
With plenty of colours, you can find tatami to match the feel your room that won’t discolour from sun exposure.
Choose colours to match your floor, curtains, walls, or whatever you want.
You can also give it some personality with two colours of tatami.
Relatively Easy to Take Care of
A great point for the Tokyo Series (resin) and Zen (Japanese paper) is their ease of care due to lacking the nutrients that cause mites and mould.
However, although their appearance and feel as tatami aren’t inferior, you will not get the fragrance of soft rush that you would with Igusa.
