The number of people sleeping on futon mattresses is increasing.

We are increasingly shipping tatami mats from Japan to overseas.

Previously, most of our orders were from Japanese people living abroad.

In the last few years, however, we have been sending more and more to non-Japanese customers, whether from America, Europe or elsewhere.

We wanted to know how they used tatami mats, so we asked a customer who had made a purchase to send a photo.

When we looked at the photos they sent us, it appeared that they have placed the tatami on top of the flooring, and sleep on a futon mattress.

The combination of the color of the futon and the chair is stylish, isn’t it.

What they purchased was 9 mats of tatami made with Tokyo Natural tatami facing in ivory.

One mat is 82cm square, so even if you lay out 9 of them, there is plenty of space to spare.

If you lay a futon mattress directly onto flooring, condensation arises, and the futon gets damp and sticky.

Mold can also develop in the futon.

By laying a tatami mat on top of the flooring, condensation can be prevented.

There is just the right amount of space between the tatami mat and the futon, so air does not build up, and you can sleep comfortably without condensation.

However, one thing you must be careful about is that if you leave the futon laid out, mold may develop even if it is laid on tatami.

If you fold up the futon every time and do a moderate amount of ventilation and cleaning, you can lead a comfortable tatami lifestyle in your country too.
