[Question 1]
I have a three-year-old son, and we are planning to use it for western style room which is next to living room and can get sunshine, is a tatami made of Japanese paper possible to keep longer?
Also, please kindly advise if it is easy to lose texture and scent of tatami.
If you can get sunlight too much in your room, a tatami made of organic (or natural) rush is easy to be sunburned and become discolored quicker. Also, the deterioration rate is faster.
A tatami mat made of new material (resin, Japanese paper) is almost no discoloration due to sunburn.
Also, according to the test result, it has three times of durability than organic (or natural) rush.
The texture of tatami made of resin and Japanese paper is no difference compared with organic (or natural) rush.
[Question 2]
As I checked each website of TOKYO (resin) and ZEN (Japanese paper), there is no big difference, I understand it is the difference of material and brand but is there any feature for each?
Also, is there any difference of treading comfort and touching comfort?
There is almost no difference of function as basic tatami.
The coloring is a little bit different even it is same green color due to the difference of material.
Also, for touching comfort, there is the difference of material feature.
You would be able to check the touching comfort actually by paid sample (9 dollars).
The sample is a surface part of tatami which is diced into 15cm cubes.
