How we quote for our made-to-measure Tatami mats

There are two way in which we can provide a quote.

1. You can ask us to quote based on the size and quantity of Tatami mats.

If you already have in mind a desired size for your Tatami mats, let us know the size (width x length x thickness) and quantity you require.

Our Tatami mats can be manufactured in size increments of 1 mm.

Orders are accepted from just a single mat.

For example, you could specify “835mm x 934mm x 25mm, 3 mats” or “31 in. x 70 in. x 1.18 in., 8 mats”.

2. You can ask us to quote based on the size of your room

If you wish to lay Tatami mats in an existing room with conventional flooring, or if you have a particular area you would like to cover with Tatami mats, let us know the size of the room/area (length x width x thickness). We will then work out the number of mats required based on the size of the room/area.

Again, our Tatami mats can be manufactured in size increments of 1mm, so you can simply let us know the size, for example like “3,430mm x 2,458mm x 15mm”.

You can also specify the size in inches.

When advising us of the size of the room, please kindly take the measurements in accordance with the below guidance.

If you are thinking of having Tatami mats made for a Japanese-style room, please measure your room first.

For example, you could specify “2,640mm x 3,640mm (103 in. x 143 in.)”.

Please remember to specify the desired thickness of the Tatami mats within the range of 15mm to 55mm (0.6in. to 2.1in.).

Buildings are made by humans, and even if things appear to be straight (!) or right-angled (!), quite often there are subtle curves that aren’t immediately obvious.

Therefore, please take three or so different measurements, and let us know the shortest measurement.

The reason we ask you to give us the shortest measurement is that the Tatami mats might not fit if the size of the room is exceeded.

On the other hand, even if the measurement is short by 5mm, we will only have a 2.5mm gap on each side, which won’t be that noticeable.

How to measure the size of made-to-measure Tatami mats

As shown in the diagram, please take measurements from three or so different places.

(For example, if both sides of A measures 2,640mm but measures 2,638mm in the middle, and the top and middle of B measures 3,640mm but measures 3,637mm at the bottom, please specify the size as 2,638mm x 3,637mm.)
